10 Mistakes in Icon Design
![]()
I came across this fantastic article that any icon designer, or designer in general should read. It shares with us the 10 mistakes that designers do with icon design. Some of them are just opinionated, but overall the list is very useful. Here are a few tips from the list:
The British teen that can only eat Tic-Tacs

What if the only food you could eat was tic-tacs? Luckily there are few with this problem, and leaves doctors stunned. This 17-year-old teen has a disorder that causes her to puke after she swallows any solid. She gets her daily food from a specially blended liquid food that is put into her body through a tube. The only thing she seems to be able to keep down are tic-tacs though.
“They do give me a bit of energy, but I eat them mostly to get rid of hunger. It is psychological,” the Mirror quoted Natalie, as saying.
This leaves doctors puzzled with what could be wrong with her and they have been studying the condition her whole life.
How Much is Microsoft Really willing to Spend?

It seems Microsoft has decided to throw its money around lately and we have have figures for you. Recently they acquired Danger and was unknown as to how much they actually paid for it. There are some figures that are making their way out of the wood work and its estimated they paid $500 million on the acquisition of Danger but they have an even bigger target in mind.
The popular search engine Yahoo! has been in the eyes of Microsoft for a long time, and Yahoo! has even shown that they do not want anything to do with Microsoft. But Microsoft is not stepping down because of that. They will look towards their shareholders instead. Microsoft first offered a mere $45 Billion and Yahoo turned it down. They still seem interested in the business and i’m sure we will be seeing even larger figures coming out. Hopefully Yahoo can hold out and stay out of the hands of Microsoft because we don’t need them to ruin a perfectly good search engine like everything else they touch.

Tattoos Might Be the Best Way to Deliver a Cancer Vaccine

Most people that get tattoos are getting them because they want to have a symbol of something on them for the rest of their life. This could all but change in the future with a new discovery. Scientist in Germany have discovered that delivering vaccines through a tattoo needle is more effect than the traditional way.
Some vaccines when introduced to the body fail to produce the needed antibodies to fight off the infections. But when introduced through a tattoo needle they have found greater success. So well that it creates 16 times more antibodies than the traditional way.
This certainly won’t replace the normal method yet, but it is interesting to see what could come of this. Could you have a permanent reminder of your vaccinations tattooed on your arm? Or would leave nor lasting impression?

[rumor] Netflicks to have downloads for Xbox 360 and PS3

Many believe that Netflicks popular movie rental service may be making its way to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. There is good reason behind this news as well. Netflicks has taken a recenty survey asking users what they would like out of their Netflicks subscription and one of the questions was, “If as part of your Netflix membership you could instantly watch movies and TV episodes on your TV with your PS/3 or XBOX 360, how likely would you/anyone in your household be to do that?”. This seems like they are telling us that they are going to offer it to the two gaming consoles rather than asking us if we’d use it. You wouldn’t need to pay more each month either for the additional upgrade. They say they will use a special disc that will allow you to watch the movies on your consoles. But for now we can only but hope for such a feature to exist.

WGA Strike may come to end, but when will shows come back?

Over the weekend it looked like the strike may come to and end and it just might with negotiations finally coming to an end. But then this asks a vital question. When will our favorite shows come back? Filmschoolrejects have compilied a list of a lot of popular television shows and when they will be airing, recording, or if they just aren’t coming back at all (sorry Bionic Woman fans).
MLB Nail Gun Commercial
This was rather funny because you would never expect what the commercial was really for.
