Apple MacBook Air Looks Absolutely Amazing

Macbook Air

They weren’t kidding when they said their was “something in the air”.  They announced today at the keynote the new MacBook Air and its absolutely breathe taking.  IT is .16 inches thick at the bottom and .76 inches on the top. The black keyboard is LED backlit, sightly recessed MacBook-style, with rounded edges all around. The latch is magnetic and has a gorgeous 13.3-inch screen with ambient-light sensor and, get this, multitouch trackpad.  Even if you are a windows fan, you have to admit this is stunning.  Best of all, its available in 2 weeks at a base price of $1799!  Gizmodo has a gallery after the jump.

lol 1800, damn. I’ll be interested to see how dell, hp, and the likes turn this into their own product….I’ll be really interested to see when it becomes cheaper.

Will they put the multi-touch pad on their other notebooks or just on the MacBook Airs?

wait wait wait…no cd-dvd drive…? the hell is the point? If youre willing to throw out that much money may as well just get a macbook pro for a little more.

With my student discount, I could get a Pro for the same price as the least expensive Air at MSRP. RIP OFF.

It’s a rip off even if you didn’t get the student discount. What a crock. I can’t believe that guy hyped so much.

You can complain about the price, but the fact remains that ultraportables are generally a bit expensive considering their specs. Even the Asus Eee PC for example. It is $400, but is a fairly low spec machine for that (A Dell much better is only $500). People are willing to buy it because of size. I think the same goes for this MacBook Air, though it does have great specs for its size.

Then again, I’ve never used a Mac. I’m a Linux guy. :)
