It’s Not A Billboard, It’s a Power Plant

So there is a new concept that is catching many peoples eyes. Solar powered billboards? If thats what your thinking, you were correct (but i highly doubt you were). These billboards can generate 3.4 Kw of electricity during the day which is said to be able to power the house of a family of four. “The energy that is collected by the solar panels actually exceeds the amount used by it on a day-to-day basis,” said Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) spokesperson Jennifer Zelwer of the standard-sized billboard, which proclaims: “This isn’t a billboard. It’s a power plant.” Sounds like a great idea…. for the people selling the solar panels to the states.
Now, really, is this necessary? Of course this is just a concept currently, and it really does give a use to those ugly billboards, but these may just make them uglier if anything. This isn’t a matter of creating a more efficient energy system, its more of another way PG&E can make money (without actually doing anything that great).
We probably will not be seeing these around the states in the future, but those of you in california can enjoy them while they last!
